Access to Facilities
Students have access to various facilities at the Conservatorium including:
Practice Rooms
Students are encouraged to make use of the Conservatorium’s 70 practice rooms. No booking is required, but students should follow these guidelines:
- You may practice as long as you wish unless another student requires the room
- You must vacate the room on the hour if requested to do so by another student waiting to use it
- Please leave the practice rooms equipped with pianos for pianists
- Please do not use practice rooms for private teaching
Teaching studios
Approved keyboard students can book and use teaching studios subject to availability, for practice on grand pianos. Double bass, harp and harpsichord students may also book studios for practice. Please follow these guidelines:
- Special access to teaching studios should be requested at the administration counter (Room 2151)
- Please sign in at the desk in person, and sign out the access card, or ask the Administrative Assistant to open the door using a master key. Please return the access card in person at the end of your practice session.
Ensemble Rehearsal Spaces
Ensemble rehearsal spaces can be used during or outside normal business hours, however other types of room use, such as semester timetable and scheduled concerts, take priority. Students can request rooms with specific equipment/set up, subject to availability. Students should follow these guidelines:
- Please make your booking in person between 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday, room 2140
- Please show current student ID when booking a room
- Bookings are generally on the hour or half hour
- Bookings are encouraged as far in advance as possible, but required a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
Computer Labs and Electronic Music Studios
Conservatorium students have access to two computer labs and seven specialist sound/video production/composition studios. A log in procedure is required to access the computers. Your user name and password is automatically created when you enrol and instructions on how to access this information is on notice boards in the music technology area. If there is a problem with your log in please contact the Computer Lab Manager at .
ICT Computer Access Lab
The ICT Computer Access Lab located in the Conservatorium Library provides additional IT facilities to university students and staff. More information on how to access these facilities can be found here.
Lockers
A limited number of instrument and bag lockers are available in the Conservatorium building. Students should apply at the Finance Office, Room 4026 (Greenway Building, upper level). The charge is $40 per annum (including GST). A refund of $15 will be given when keys are returned on completion of the academic year.
