Facilities

The Conservatorium is a music education facility of outstanding acoustic and architectural quality. Following a major redevelopment completed in 2001, the new facility is regarded as one of the finest in the world, with five performance venues and more than 130 teaching and practice studios spanning almost 30,000 square metres.

Performance Venues
Verbrugghen Hall, the largest performance venue, is a world-class concert hall seating 500. The 250-seat Music Workshop is the most versatile venue, featuring a flexible stage making it suitable for a variety of performances. Twin recital halls, each seating 120, are used for lectures and seminars, masterclasses with visiting artists and public recitals given by Conservatorium staff and students, and the Music Café is the smallest performance space, combining an intimate performance stage with a fully serviced dining area.

Music Technology
The Conservatorium’s music technology facilities include a series of studios and computer laboratories providing users with state-of-the-art equipment for music notation, and electronic music production. A fully equipped recording studio enables digital-quality recording and live broadcasts from the Conservatorium venues.

Other Facilities
The Conservatorium Library houses a vast collection of books, scores, CDs, audio visual material and videos for loan to students.

The Conservatorium also has a limited stock of instruments that students can hire for a modest fee.
