Arts Music Unit

The Arts Music unit at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music offers a unique multi-cultural music education, broadly based in studies of society, culture and performance to students from all faculties. The unit is based on the main campus, in the Seymour Centre and the Old Darlington School.

The unit offers a wide range of courses which are designed for both intending professional musicians, students with broad interests in the study of music in culture, and students who will pursue other careers. The broad focus of the curriculum means that students from varying musical (and non-musical) backgrounds are welcome. Subjects range from general music language studies to specific courses in performance, composition and musicology.

Students can take a Major or Honours in Music as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree, or as part of any combined Arts degree (e.g. Arts/Commerce, Arts/Law, Arts/Science and so on).
