Percussion Unit Staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music are active performers in Australia’s major orchestras and ensembles including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australia Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Synergy Percussion. Conservatorium Percussion students engage in the development of solo repertoire for mallets, timpani and multi-percussion and perform in a variety of ensembles ranging from Percussion Ensemble, Modern Music and Early Music Ensembles through to Wind Symphony and the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra. The Percussion Unit frequently hosts National and International guest artists. Recent overseas visitors include: Steven Schick, Fritz Hauser, David Cossin, Alan Cumberland, Ney Rosauro and Jonathan Haas.
