Brass Unit – Research and Creative Activities

The Brass Unit at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music is comprised of leading teacher/performers in Australia. Areas of expertise range from period Baroque performance to contemporary art music as well as opera and symphonic orchestral performances. Brass Unit staff are featured performers in the many scheduled Conservatorium concerts and feature regularly as part of Sydney’s vibrant music scene.

Staff are invited to give recitals and masterclasses nationally and internationally as well as performing with some of the worlds leading ensembles.

The unit hosts a number of masterclasses each year. Recent guest artists have include Håkan Hardenberger (trumpet, Sweden), Hector McDonald (french horn, Austria) and Susan Addison (trombone, UK). Faculty have recently travelled to China to give performances and masterclasses.
