Cost
The fee for the course is $22,000, including tuition and a comprehensive tool kit containing tuning, regulation, voicing and repair tools. As mentioned in the Course Outline and depending on individual progression, graduates can expect to commence working on pianos, both at the Conservatorium and, outside class times, for private customers well before the course finishes.
The course fee must be paid in full before the first day of the course. There is no provision for part or extended payment. Should a student wish to discontinue in the course, refund of the course fee will only be possible within the first four weeks of the first term ie. until 3 March. A refund during that time will include the cost of any tools issued and receipted by the Conservatorium to that date (providing tools are returned intact) but will carry a penalty charge of $1600. No refund is possible after the first four weeks of the course.
At the present time, students of the Licentiate are not eligible for any form of State or Federal Government assistance, HECS, Austudy, Centrelink, etc.
Given the demanding nature of the course detailed in the Course Outline, potential applicants should be aware that the opportunities for part-time work outside course hours will be very limited. Indeed, excessive work outside course hours may reduce a student’s ability to gain the greatest benefit from the training.
Anyone considering an application for this course must ensure that that they have adequate resources to complete the course without financial hardship.
The Conservatorium and University make no profit from offering this course. All of the course fees and industry assistance help to provide the resources and teaching of the course.
