Flute Eisteddfod 2009

Sunday 25 October 10am – 6pm
Flute Society of NSW and the Open Academy

Alexa Still
SCM Chair Woodwind and Vice President Flute Society of NSW

Welcome to the Flute Society of New South Wales Eisteddfod 2009, now the third year of collaboration between the Flute Society NSW and the Sydney Conservatorium’s Open Academy.

Last year was another great success, and we thank all competitors, teachers and especially the sponsors who provided such a wealth of prizes! With the successes of last year’s new one-day format, we are once again encouraging everyone to set the whole day aside in order to compete, listen to the competitors in the Conservatorium’s spectacular facilities, and enjoy meeting up with friends and colleagues.

Audience members are more than welcome at all events! The day will be enhanced by the NSWFS ensuring a great supply of food is available, and everyone is invited to look at the vast and interesting array of instruments, flute related merchandise, music and accessories on display and available for purchase. Flute shopping cannot get any better or more convenient than this.
Get your entry in, get practising and good luck!

Louise Dellit
President Flute Society of NSW

This is a greeting to introduce myself as the new President of the Flute Society, and to say how happy I am that we are presenting the eisteddfod with the Conservatorium’s Open Academy. We are very grateful for their assistance with the organisation of such a huge event involving a multitude of competition sections and more than 500 competitors.

Many thanks also go to so many of Sydney’s professional flute performers and teachers, who continually encourage students to enter and compete in the event, and kindly volunteer to adjudicate on the day. Let’s have a great eisteddfod and enjoy “Fostering the Flute”. We look forward to seeing you there!
