The Sydney Conservatorium of Music has a long, proud history of service to the people of NSW since our foundation by the NSW State Government in 1915.
Our mission is to encourage and support the performance and study of fine music by and for the people of NSW.
We welcome increasing engagement with members of our community at all levels, as musicians or a concert-goers, as

As the Conservatorium is a charitable institution, gifts from Australian taxpayers are tax-deductible.

We are particularly keen to re-establish links with all music students who graduated from the Conservatorium before its amalgamation with the University of Sydney in 1990. They are encouraged to make contact with the Conservatorium to receive an invitation to a reunion, at which they will be presented with a certificate recognising them as alumni of the University of Sydney.

Missing Musos – Where are You?

The Sydney Conservatorium of Music recently launched a public appeal to locate almost 2,000 musicians and music teachers who studied here before 1990, when The Con became part of the University of Sydney.
Since that time, music graduates have received degrees conferred by the University. Their predecessors who received SCM Diplomas in Teaching or Performance, Bachelor degrees in Music or Music Teaching and other qualifications from the SCM also have the right to be officially recognised as alumni of the University of Sydney. The first Recognition Reunion will be held in February 2010. Qualified pre-1990 SCM graduates will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition as alumni of the University of Sydney in the University’s famous Great Hall, where graduation ceremonies have been held for 150 years. The ceremony will be followed by a Champagne Reception and a Concert at the Conservatorium.
