Sydney Conservatorium of Music – World Class Facilities
Music activities will be held at the Sydney Conservatorium campus of the University of Sydney, located in Macquarie Street, surrounded by the Royal Botanic Gardens and just up the road from the Sydney Opera House.
The facilities at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music are amongst the finest in the world. Redevelopment of the facilities at a cost of A$145million was completed in 2001 resulting in an architectural masterpiece combining historical elements with the best of modern architecture.
The main castle-like heritage building, once the stables of Government House, was completed refurbished to now house the Conservatorium’s main concert hall, Verbrugghen Hall seating 500. The Conservatorium campus also includes a further two recital halls, a Music Workshop seating 220, more than 100 offices, 53 teaching studios, 63 practice rooms, choral and instrumental rehearsal rooms, and a library with more than 300,000 items. There are over 140 pianos in the building and our piano teaching studios are each equipped with two Steinway grand pianos.
