Book Rooms
Academic and performance spaces
Rooms can be booked during or outside business hours. Instructor room preferences are honoured where possible. The following applies when booking academic and performance spaces:
- Staff can book the Conservatorium’s large venues, but they must have sufficient numbers.
- Casual room bookings are possible subject to availability.
- Ensemble rooms are for people playing instruments. Seminar rooms are for instruction.
- Staff can request rooms with specific equipment/setup, subject to availability.
- Bookings are generally on the hour or half hour.
- Bookings are encouraged as far in advance as possible, but required a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
Teaching studios:
Full-time and part-time instructors are entitled to book and use rooms. Reservations and use are during normal business hours only. Instructor room preferences are honoured where possible. The following applies when booking a teaching studio:
- Bookings are generally on the hour or half hour.
- Bookings are encouraged as far in advance as possible
- Reservations are made by contacting Administrative Assistant Stephen Yates.
- Part-time and casual staff are required to sign in at the desk in person, and to sign out an access card or to request the Administrative Assistant open the door using a master key. (Full time staff are not required to sign in and out). Instructors are also expected to return the access card in person, at the end of their session.
- Studios are dedicated for the one-on-one instruction of tertiary and non-tertiary Conservatorium students by instructors employed or contracted by the Conservatorium.
- Tertiary student lessons receive priority over non-tertiary student lessons.
- Students are not permitted to book or use the rooms for practice, except approved keyboard students, who may arrange practice sessions on the grand pianos subject to availability.
- Instructors are not permitted to use the rooms to conduct private lessons for non-Conservatorium students
- Rooms are informally associated with particular units, but this association is only used for preferencing room assignments. Instructors will be assigned to rooms associated with other units if demand requires.
- The Conservatorium does not make rooms available for hire.
- Student and instructor room preferences are honoured where possible.
Computing Labs and Electronic Music Studios
Staff can book computer labs and studios on a semester long basis through the Conservatorium Space and Timetabling Co-ordinator.
Casual bookings for these spaces may be made via the computer lab manager at
